By the time they made it back to the Medieval, it was nearly midnight and the effects of at least one too many glasses of local red were taking its toll on them.

“Ok, so we’re following each other on every social media channel in existence.” Abi swiped through her phone as she talked. “And I have your phone number and your email address. Though, can you text me your postal? I sometimes do these old-fashioned things called postcards,” she grinned. Then her face dropped, and she gave a sigh. “I’ve had the best time meeting you, Jen Cosgrove. I really have. I’m going to miss you.”

Jen bit her lip. “Me too.” She didn’t know what else to say, and before she knew what she was doing, she stepped forward and hugged her. Abi’s arms wrapped around her, holding her tight, her cheek pressed against her collarbone. Jen closed her eyes, taking a deep breath of the citrus scent she’d woken to. They stood, pressed together for far too long, and when they finally pulled apart, the night staff at the reception desk were staring at them. For once, Jen didn’t care. “Promise you’ll come visit me.”

“Promise you’ll meet me somewhere that isn’t Australia.”

“Promise.”

“Me too.”
